Lead Me Astray

from Hiatus From Myself by Cameron Jirowetz

/

lyrics

On the ground in front of me
lay something odd and strange to see
It’s not anything from this earth
I’ll pick it up and see its worth

(In his hands held a point of view
similar sights, location too
He knew not its origin or destiny)
This thing I’m holding- its real, it’s me

From ahead a cloud rolled in
blocked out the sun and picked up wind
Thick like a slime and gaining speed
The crawling death lurched right at me

(He lifted from his feet and flew
at least the distance from me to you
into a void of darkness where
he lost all sight but was still aware~)

-He was instantaneously spat from the viscosity into
-what appeared to be a picturesque grove of cherry
-blossoms, the front of which sloped into a valley with
-a mountain just as high as he after it. Behind him, a
-log cabin with an open door displaying a sign that read
-“Altered”. He stood and walked the already beaten
-path to the cabin, whereupon inside on the carpet lie
-a scrap of paper labeled “Check in” with his name
-erratically written and crossed out. Instinctively, he
-grabbed the quill, crossed out the name above it and
-wrote his own. After signing the paper he ambled
-over to the window overlooking the grove and valley
-below. His mind rushed with a sense of amazement
-and bewilderment. He stood entranced when out of the
-corner of his eye, the far mountain range slowly began
-to fade in a wave of dark red as the door to the
-wilderness slammed shut. Turning his head sharply,
-he ran over to the door to try to leave, only to find it locked
-from the other side. Trying to pry open the window,
-electricity was abruptly cut and everything outside
-began to dim. The darkness from which he came
-had begun to seep through the cracks of the house
-and into the air. Incessant whispering picked up in
-the far edges of his hearing and he sat down, as
-he entered yet again, Infinite Thought.

Cameron Jirowetz East Haddam, Connecticut

Hey there,
I make music. I try to make my stuff unique. I am influenced by pop, art rock, soul, and psychedelic bands of the 60s and 70s; if you’re into stuff like that, chances are my tunes might be up your alley. If not, that’s okay.
